Contact Free Estimates

During these uncertain times of coronavirus, your safety, security, and health should be of utmost importance. Sadly, however, just because there is a new virus on the horizon doesn’t mean that all of our other problems simply cease to exist. Roofing concerns or repairs are something that exist year-round, especially in harsh weather conditions. And when they arise you want to have them fixed promptly. But with health officials suggesting that we stay home and socially distance as much as possible, how is it possible for us to have our roofing repaired? The answer to this question is Virtual Estimates.

Even though Roofing repairs cannot be done over the phone, there are many parts of the roofing process that don’t require direct contact. Things like estimates can be done over the phone, through text message, or through video messaging. Virtual methods like these allow you to keep communication with your contractor and share important information that is required throughout the roofing project.

How does it work?

The first step is to give your roofing contractor a call and set up a time for a virtual consultation and estimate. If your roofing concerns are an emergency, some companies may be able to set up same day consultations and have someone come to your home for repairs immediately. If they are not immediate concerns, most roofing contractors can still come to your home for repair within a few days.

Once you have set up your consultation time, a roofing contractor will give you a call and through the use of technology, you can share any concerns that you have. This may involve sending photos of damage that has been done through text or email, or conducting a video walkthrough of your roof.

Depending on the project at hand, some roofing contractors may also use apps to create 3D models or visual mock-ups of your roofing project. Google aerial maps also allows many roofing contractors to calculate the square footage of your home without stepping foot on your property. This means that all quotes and estimates can be handled directly over the phone without any face-to-face interactions.

What about contracts?

The great thing about technology is that almost anything can be done on a phone or a computer. All roofing contracts can be drawn up and signed through electronic signatures. Many roofing contractors have apps that they like to use for this purpose, but it can also be done through email as well. If you are not good with technology, fax is another option.

A word about virtual inspections:

Please remember that virtual inspections are for your safety. Any inspection that could put you at risk of injury should not be conducted virtually or over the phone. If it is not possible or safe for you to take photos or video of your roof, please let your roofing contractor know and they will be able to come to your home and do a socially distanced consultation and roof inspection. A great thing about roofing is that it does not require a great deal of face-to-face interaction and can be done in a socially distanced manner. Please do not put your safety at risk for the sake of a virtual consultation or estimate.

Additional safety precautions for roofing inspections:

Aside from virtual estimates, there are many other things that roofing contractors can do to keep both themselves and you safe during times of Covid-19. To help prevent the spread of Covid-19, roofing contractors should:
● Avoid working if they have any symptoms of Covid-19 including fever, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, headache, cold sweats, and so on and so forth.
● Practice social distancing on the worksite by limiting contact with clients and other workers.
● Engaging in frequent washing and sanitization of the hands, as well as frequent sanitization of all surfaces in vehicles and with tools.

How do contractors conduct inspections during Covid-19?

In some cases, it may be necessary for your roofing contractor to come to your home to give you a proper estimate. This may be the case if damage is extensive, if you don’t know the source of the damage, or if it is too dangerous for you to climb on your roof to take photos of the damage. In such a case a contractor can still come to your home to do a thorough inspection of your roof in a socially distanced manner.

In fact, you don’t even need to see the roofer face to face. Simply provide them with your address and set up a time for them to arrive, and they can come and do their inspection. Once they have done a thorough inspection of your roof and its condition, the contractor can collect all of the information that they need and call you when they return to the office. Within 24 hours you should have a detailed estimate drawn up that details what needs to be done and how much it will cost.

If you need to install a new roof, you can discuss all of the material and colour options over the phone with your contractor. In most cases you can also discuss these things over video chat so that the contractor can actually show you the different options. Once your estimate has been provided to you, you can take as much time as you need to decide whether or not you would like to proceed with your repairs or renovations.

If you decide to proceed, you can set up a time for your contractor and their team to come to your home and work on your roof without ever having to come within six feet of one another. All communication can be done via phone, text, email, or video chat.

Are emergency roofing services still available during Covid-19?

Yes! Covid-19 has not stopped the need for emergency roofing services. Unfortunately, in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, wind, rain, hail, and other harsh weather conditions still lead to roof damage that requires immediate assistance. In such a case, you can call your local emergency roofing service and they can still send someone out immediately to do a socially distanced inspection and estimate.
